Aston Martin’s long-awaited update to the DB9, a car many consider to be as close to aesthetic perfection as any coupe or convertible can get these days, brings almost no changes to the exterior. How can we complain about that without sounding bratty? Although timelessness counts for a lot in this business, so does freshness.

So we sort of wish that the 2011 model changes, the most significant since the DB9’s 2004 introduction, went a little further than a new front fascia, brighter grillework, subtly reshaped side sills, and “new” headlamp bezels that we’re still struggling to see as different. (Where are the LED turn signals or DRLs, à la Rapide and Vantage, guys?) Diamond-turned 20-inch wheels, like those available on Aston’s other offerings, become DB9-isms for 2011 as well.

Under the skin, the only update of note is the fitment of Aston’s Active Damping System, which features Comfort and Sport settings, in place of last year’s passive (but hardly sloppy) system. Tire-pressure monitoring and Bluetooth connectivity have found their way into the DB9 for next year, and the options list has grown to include a new “Double Apex” alloy trim treatment and a Bang & Olufsen sound system, the latter also previously available throughout the rest of the Aston lineup. There are no changes to the sonorous, 470-hp, 5.9-liter V-12 under the hood, nor the six-speed manual or automatic transaxles. The engine and ZF automatic saw upgrades for the 2009 model year. While the changes are limited in our eyes, Aston did have its hands full with development of the Rapide and One-77, so we’re willing to cut it some slack. Now, whether customers will bear that in mind as Aston asks them to hand over a large sum of money—$188,965 for the coupe or $202,465 for the Volante—in exchange for a brand-new car that, while still aesthetically brilliant, appears virtually identical to the last seven years of DB9s is a tougher call.

BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept

Performance, fuel efficiency and emission management opening new dimensions in hybrid technology. The power delivered by the two electric motors and single diesel 3-cylinder engine gives the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept a level of performance superior to anything provided so far by a hybrid vehicle. Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h, for example, comes in just 4.8 seconds and the car could exceed its electronically-limited 155 mph top speed.

In its design, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics differs from the usual low-emission car concepts. The principle of “form follows function” is not just for the overall look of the car, but embraces each and every detail. Measuring 48.8″ in height and boasting a sweeping, arch-like roofline, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics offers the slender silhouette of a classic Gran Turismo. With the combustion engine fitted in front of the rear axle, the designers have succeeded in giving the car a very low front end, with the flow of air being further smoothened by active louvers in front of the radiator, which close completely when the need for cooling air is low. This efficient function follows in the footsteps of the active air flap control already used as a feature of BMW EfficientDynamics in some of BMW’s current production models. As a further highlight, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics guides air smoothly and exactly as required into the car through an active air intake at the

Aerodynamic qualities reflecting BMW’s Motorsport experience. BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics also takes a new approach in its design and streamlining, the body and the interior clearly expressing the unique combination of supreme efficiency and the sporting performance of the brand. Following BMW’s design language, this concept car visualizes both highly efficient aerodynamics and intelligent lightweight construction.

Custom Honda S2000 Awesome!

http://car-dicky.blogspot.com/
The Honda S2000 itself is an impressive car, but well managed custom jobs of course can make things a lot better. Case in point: Tom’s S2000. This Honda was stripped down to the frame and built again with all the precision you could ask for. It now has a NA tuned engine, Mugen Race Roll Cage, Tracy Sports GT widebody, Spoon Hardtop, Carbon on the hood, doors and trunk, ASM Titanium Exhaust, Top Secret 19″ TE37 wheels and a whole lot of other goodies. With so much effort gone into the car, it obviously has good looks and great performance. Despite all the changes to the car, the custom job will not take the car off the roads; it is still street legal.

Porsche Panamera | A Detailed Look and The Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera | A Detailed Look

Panamera | A Detailed Look

A four door Porsche was already supposed to come out in the 90’s. The high development costs almost ruined Porsche as a company. With the successful introduction of their Cayenne jeep, it looked like Porsche could pull off something else aside from their sports cars this time around. Soon the new four door Panamera will be released – the Porsche “Family” car so to speak. Opinions are mixed on the new car, but we have to say, we like it and we like the idea behind it. Today we get a first look at not only the exterior, but also the interior of the car, which offers all four passengers full seats and of course everything else you would expect from a luxury car. We cannot wait to see it on the roads. Via

This is big news – finally images of the much anticipated four door Porsche Panamera are out. For those of you that have a bit of an interest in cars, Porsche actually wanted to come out with a four door car years ago and almost went bankrupt at the time because of the massive R&D costs. Now after successfully launching their Cayenne a couple of years ago, the timing seems better. From the first images the Panamera looks great.

The Bape General did it once again, this time on one of the most mind-blowing oldtimers of all time – Nigo put his Bape camouflage pattern on the Mercedes 300SL, along with all sorts of other types of customization, such as a custom AMG engine, wheels and more. This is one of the most beautiful cars ever built, thus we are not so sure it really needs the Bape camo make-over, but at least Nigo can be sure it’s a unique piece. Previously Nigo had put the camouflage on a Rolls-Royce Phantom.
